SONS OF THE DELTA

sons of the delta

WRITTEN BY OFUOMADEGA JOHN

Those who fought for our cause
Have long stopped
They now fight for their
Bellies
And our streams,
Still wrapped in Jelly
No longer holds fish
No, it holds death
Death, from cancers
Cancers and tumors.

We used to dream dreams
As children
But now, all that we see
Are nightmares.
For our empty stomachs
Are filled with sad tales
Of madness
Of how few
Are well fed
While the rest die
Of hunger driven madness.

Ogoni,
Paints pictures
Of our pain
Our roads,
Lead nowhere but hell
A road that would never
Kiss and tell
For her kiss,
Most likely means death.
